Access To Provide Services To Chaplin Seniors
August 2007 - The Town of Chaplin has contracted with ACCESS to serve as the town's Municipal Agent for the Elderly, providing Chaplin senior citizens and their families a broad range of services that includes: energy assistance, crisis intervention, weatherization, assistance with Medicare Part D, renters' rebate applications, emergency food and income tax assistance. The ACCESS Community Action Agency will be sponsoring a credit workshop on Tuesday, September 18 at 6:00 pm at the main office located at 1315 Main Street in Willimantic. Volunteer Efforts Return Money To The Community
WILLIMANTIC, CT --- During the 2006-2007 tax season, the ACCESS Community Action Agency staff and community volunteers prepared tax returns resulting in $776,948 ( a 29% increase from 2006) in refunds through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Local Energy Conservation Program Caught in Washington Spending Fight
WILLIMANTIC, April 11, 2007 - Before its Spring recess, the U.S. Senate directed the Energy Department to restore funding for local weatherization efforts that the Administration cut from its 2007 spending plan just as local crews were gearing up for the year.
